Abraham Jam to Perform at Toronto’s Muslimfest

Abraham Jam will make their first Canadian appearance this coming weekend at the 15th Muslimfest event in Mississauga, Ontario. (Sunday September 2nd, 4:30 pm on the Main Stage)

MuslimFest is an award-winning, annual festival celebrating the best in Muslim arts and entertainment. The program features over 80 local and international artists who showcase their talents in various genres.  Comedy, theatre, song, spoken-word, film, visual arts, seminars, workshops, food tents, trinket bazaar and splash-pad ~ all open to the general public with no admission fee.   Launched in 2004, MuslimFest attracts over 30,000 attendees each year and is now considered one of North America’s largest Muslim-organized programs.

Dawud Wharnsby (a founding member of the festival and a performer at almost every Muslimfest event over the years), is excited to be on stage next weekend as part of Abraham Jam (with friends Billy Jonas and David LaMotte).

“We live in a time where, more than ever, the doors of communication must be opened wider.” says, Wharnsby.  “If we do not quite know where to start the important conversations we need to have with our neighbours, well… maybe we can break the ice with a song!  Singing in unison is a fine way to celebrate unity, but singing in harmony can be even more beautiful!”

Abraham Jam brings musicians Wharnsby, Jonas and LaMotte together from their respective Abrahamic traditions (Muslim, Jewish and Christian) as a means of demonstrating such harmony.
